On June 4th 2015, a Platelet Donors Helpline was launched by Mr. Khushroo Poacha the founder of IndianBloodDonors.com. Awaaz.De is proud to be the technology partner for PlateletDonors.org. This helpline is free of cost and serves, to quickly and easily, connect platelet donors and patients seeking platelet transfusion.
Platelet donation is a lifesaving procedure for cancer patients and Awaaz.De feels to honored to work with IBD once again and be able to leverage our expertise and capacity in mobile technology for a social cause. Awaaz.De had previously set up a helpline to connect blood donors: IndianBloodDonors: Make a call, save a life
According to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre:
“Some cancer treatments cause a loss of platelets. These specialized blood cells help control blood clotting. When platelet levels fall too low, patients may need a transfusion of platelets to replenish their supply and prevent life-threatening hemorrhages. Some patients, especially those who have had a bone marrow transplant or who are being treated for leukemia, may require daily platelet transfusions for several weeks.” (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre,2015).
Patients seeking platelet transfusion have special and time sensitive needs. By creating a separate helpline for platelet donors and patients, the whole process of finding a donor is now quicker and easier. This increases the chances of survival for the patients as patients and/or their families, well-wishers, friends etc. save precious time in locating donors.
Under this initiative, IBD and Awaaz.De have united to serve a humanitarian cause. In Mr. Khushroo Poacha we see a humble and passionate humanitarian, values that Awaaz.De believes in and practices through our work.
We thank Mr. Poacha for this kind acknowledgement:
“Launching India’s First IVRS Helpline for Cancer Patients who need Platelet Donors . We take this opportunity to thank Neil Patel Founder of Awaaz.De who have given us a free line 07961907767 , Karishma Himatsinghani of Radio Karishma for Recording the Prompts. Ramesh Sannareddy for putting up the Web APIs together. Thank you folks this would not have been possible with out you. I leave it to you friends to spread the word about this helpline through FB and Whatsapp so that no patient or their relatives has to run about from Pillar to Post searching for platelet donors. I request my friends from the media to cover this extensively. Thank you and God Bless.” – Khushroo Poacha
